Graeme Tait

Graeme came to faith in his teens, and has worshipped and been in membership in Presbyterian, Baptist and (now!) independent churches where biblical teaching has been central. He has served elsewhere as deacon and worship leader and is passionate about music. He joined SEC in 2017, has led the tech team since 2019 and appointed a trustee in 2021. Still working as a cardiologist, he is married to Lesley and has three grown children. 

Penny Kelly

Admin, Pastoral Care, Community Care, GDPR, Oversight of Mission Team

Penny was brought up by Christian parents and came to faith as a child. She was baptised as a teenager while living in The Gambia. She moved to Strathaven from England in 2008, with her husband Laurence and their three children (who are now young adults). They soon settled at SEC, where Penny has been involved with Ladies’ Bible Study and various other ministries over the years. She was appointed as church Administrator in 2016. As a member of the Leadership Team, she is responsible for admin-related matters, as well as pastoral and community links. She is also part of the Foodbank Team which is increasingly in demand.

In addition to serving on the leadership team, Penny is our Church Administrator.

Dave Arnott

I was brought up in North Lanarkshire and as a teenager I attended Wishaw Baptist church, where I became a Christian and was subsequently baptised. In March 1977 Hilda and I were married, and we now have three grown up daughters and three grandchildren. I am a joiner to trade and have worked in various joinery, maintenance, and warden / centre manager roles, both in Scotland and in England (Oswestry, Shropshire), until retirement in 2017. At the end of 2018 we made the move back to Scotland and settled in Stonehouse. We joined SEC in 2019, where we are involved in several areas of ministry.

A writer of Christian poetry and fiction, music's my constant companion. Wild(ish) swimmer, preferably in the ocean off Morar or Cornwall. I try to do all the above to the glory of God!

I came to faith in childhood and am still growing in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord.

Drew Fisher

Treasurer, Fellowship, Services, Foodbank

Drew came to know the Lord as Saviour during his school days and was baptised in his local church in Blantyre. Following university, where he met his wife Lilian, he was employed as a project manager and worked in several industries. Both Lilian and Drew have been members of Strathaven Evangelical Church for over 30 years where is he currently serves as a leader with specific responsibility for the church finances. They have two married children and two grandchildren.

Tom Purdie

I came to faith in Jesus Christ as a teenager in the Boys’ Brigade and was baptised as a child in my local church. Spent most of my working life as a Civil Servant with part time jobs in Territorial Army, Out of Hours health care and now as an Ambulance Care Assistant/Driver for Dialysis Patients. I moved to SEC 6 years ago. I am currently a member of the Leadership Team and am involved in our Tech Team along with responsibility for our Welcoming Team and am the SEC PVG Co-ordinator. 

I have 2 grown up daughters and am soon to become a grandparent for the first time. Exciting times ahead!!
