Welcome

We want to do everything we can to help you discover more about us and how we can enjoy Jesus together.

We would love to meet you on a Sunday or at any of our groups during the week.

Who are we?

We are people from Strathaven and district who are drawn to Jesus Christ, some as his followers and some perhaps as those who want to find out more about Him. Together we seek to hear from the Bible what God has to say to 21st century people.  Read on to meet a few of us.

My name is Janice. I’ve been married to Frank for 43 years and I have a daughter and two granddaughters. And I’ve been a member of the church for 43 years!

If you come to SEC I may greet you – I’m a member of the Welcome Team! I am also involved with Little Buttons and Coffee & Chat.

My Mum passed away in 2015, and I miss her. God has shown me his love these past months. He has comforted me through this difficult time. My desire is to draw closer to Jesus.

CatrionaMy name is Catriona, I'm married to Gordon (who’s a church Deacon). I currently work full time as a personal care assistant.

Within the church I’m involved in Aspire, YF Bible Study, Bible Bees and I’m on the Tea & Coffee rota. I also enjoy being part of a House Group.

Being involved with YF, it is a great encouragement to see how God is working in each of their lives and how they support each other.

For myself, my hopes are that I will continue to grow in my faith and have a stronger relationship with God and with my fellow brothers and sisters of the church.

DavidMy name is David. I have been happily married to Ella for 37 years, and we have a daughter and a son, both married, and a grandson, Alfie. I work as an Engineer Surveyor carrying out safety inspections on lifting machines and passenger carrying equipment. In my spare time I play golf (but not very well!).

I joined SEC fairly recently. To me this church means family, fellowship, enthusiasm and a great love of Jesus Christ. I know God has been guiding me in our Christianity Explored course and also in the men’s Bible Study on a Thursday.

My hopes are to be as good a Christian as I can and follow whatever path God has planned for me.

My name is Niall. I'm a 19 year-old student, currently studying Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Strathclyde.

I've attended the SEC for the last 12 years. I help out with the technical aspects of a church service and also play the Bass Guitar in the church's youth band.

I’ve learned from God that no matter what I do as long as I seek forgiveness I'll be forgiven by Him. For the future, I hope to continue to help out the church in whatever way I can.
